PRESIDENT

Professor J P (Ian) Percy CBE LLD CAProfessor J P (Ian) Percy CBE LLD CA has considerable experience in corporate governance. He promoted a review of Corporate Governance in the UK as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1990 which led to his chairing a debate on the subject, resulting in the setting up of the Cadbury Committee by the Bank of England and the Stock Exchange in 1991. He was a member of the OECD Advisory Group for the preparation of their principles of corporate governance for worldwide recognition.

A former senior partner of Grant Thornton in London , Ian Percy has held a number of appointments, both in the public sector and the private sector in public and private companies as Chairman and Senior Independent Director and as Chairman of Audit Committees. He has been a Chairman of the Accounts Commission for Scotland and of Audit Scotland , set up by the Scottish Parliament.

Ian Percy was awarded a CBE for service to the accountancy profession and local government and is Honorary Professor of Accounting at Aberdeen University , Scotland .

FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dr John MellorDr John Mellor B.Sc Ph.D MBA is past Chairman of the Foundation for Governance Research and Education and currently a Visiting Professor in Corporate Governance at Bristol Business School . He is a former senior banker with over 20 years of experience of corporate banking and finance with Citibank (now Citigroup) as a Vice President and head of major international divisions, and as an Executive Director heading corporate finance at the Danish bank and Scandinavian bank partner, Unibank plc.

He has been engaged in the governance field as adviser, writer and lecturer since the Cadbury Report of 1992. In 1996, with sponsorship from NatWest Bank and in association with Exeter University where he was NatWest Visiting Senior Fellow in corporate leadership, he pioneered professional development for non executive directors, establishing and directing the Non Executive Director's Forum.

John Mellor has been an advisor to companies, central government and parliamentary groups, and a major contributor to various government reviews, as well as a director of companies in the private, not-for-profit and public sectors. He is the author of several articles on governance in professional journals, and in publications by Sweet and Maxwell including “Governance and Central Government” in a “Practical Guide to Corporate Governance”. He is currently writing a book - “Practical Governance for Private and Smaller Quoted Companies” - to be published by Jordan Publishing.

John Mellor gained a B.Sc (Hons) in chemistry from Exeter University and his Doctorate in physical chemistry from Bristol University . Following a short service commission as Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, he completed his MBA at Cranfield Business School .

Brian Woods (Chairman) was a Partner of Grant Thornton for over 25 years. He is now engaged as a non-executive director of a number of unquoted companies operating in many different fields, continuing a long-standing interest in corporate governance and board dynamics.

Jos Moule is a partner in the company department of Osborne Clarke, solicitors. He advises on all aspects of company law and has specialist expertise in advising charitable and other not-for-profit companies on corporate governance issues. He is a trustee of two charities – The Bristol Old Vic Trust Ltd and The Wallace and Gromit Children's Foundation - and co-author of “Charity Governance” published by Jordan Publishing.

Chris Hodge is Head of the Corporate Governance Unit at the Financial Reporting Council, the independent regulator responsible for promoting confidence in corporate reporting and governance, including through the Combined Code. He has previously worked at the Department of Trade and Industry and Cabinet Office.”
